Oculoplastics

Oculoplastics is a subspecialty of ophthalmology, dealing with the conditions involving the “ski mask” or periorbital area.

Oculoplastic surgery involves procedures or surgery to the eyelids, surrounding structures or orbit and tear ducts. This is a specialised area of plastic surgery for the delicate structures around the eye.

The most common conditions treated by an oculoplastic surgeon include eyelid lesions such as skin cancers, eyelid malpositions, such as drooping upper or lower eyelids, excessive eyelid skin, blocked tear ducts and orbit issues such as tumours.

The conditions might be functional or cosmetic and can occur in both adults and children.
